Job summary

Zipline in South San Francisco, CA, seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer to own the backbone of our charging towers. You will own the end-to-end electrical architecture, from site stub-up to the charging docks, blending NEC/UL requirements with practical on-site deployments and global scalability.

You will design power distribution and harnesses, manage BOMs, and drive cost trade-offs without compromising safety.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience pulling 1-inch power cables and understanding bend radii and conduit constraints.
• Industrial electrical design experience (UL508A, UL67) and complex infrastructure.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC and UL certification processes for industrial equipment.
• Experience with power distribution panels, conduits, and site-level electrical stubs.
• Ability to perform financial trade-off studies and articulate ROI.

Responsibilities

• Design the power distribution and cable harnesses for P2 charging towers and document complex wire runs.
• Own the BOM for the tower electrical systems and optimize material choices for cost and reliability.
• Lead AHJ sign-off processes to ensure NEC compliance and UL-listed raceways.
• Develop data-backed design comparisons and defend architecture choices based on cost and deployability.
• Provide on-site deployment support to translate designs into real-world installations.
