Job summary

Zipline is seeking an electrical engineer to own end-to-end subsystems for our next-generation drone platform. You’ll design, validate, and deploy hardware that flies, balancing performance with reliability in demanding environments.

Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams; travel occasionally to support deployments. Must be eligible to work in the US and work at Zipline’s South San Francisco office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of PCB design, schematic capture, and board validation.
• Experience in mixed-signal and high-speed design.
• Battery management system (BMS) and Li-ion pack design experience.
• BLDC motor drives experience.
• Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN and higher-speed buses.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team.
• US work authorization and ability to work at Zipline’s South San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design for volume production through a design cycle including requirements, prototype, schematic capture, layout, and validation.
• Make impactful design decisions daily, while working with a high level of independence.
• Lead trade studies, understand competing design priorities, and provide direction and clarity for burning down risk.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with reliability, mechanical, embedded, and systems engineers in all stages of development, including: Concept, Design, Validation, Production, Deployment.
• Travel occasionally to support supplier and manufacturer visit, product deployment, and field validation
