Job summary

Ampa is a pioneering neurotechnology startup developing brain stimulation technology to help eradicate depression. We’re seeking an exceptional Electrical Systems Engineer to lead the design and development of our high-power non-invasive TMS neuromodulation system in Palo Alto.

You’ll own circuit design, firmware in C++, component selection, and regulatory compliance, with a path to build a team as we scale. This is a hands-on, 10x engineer role offering meaningful impact and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Electrical Engineering; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in high-power electronics and medical device systems.
• Ability to work in a fast, multidisciplinary startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and lay out control circuits and electronic assemblies.
• Firmware development in C++ for the TMS system.
• Select components and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop tests and manage safety risks for medical device standards.

Role Overview:

We’re seeking an exceptional Electrical Systems Engineer to lead the design and development of our high-power (2kV // 7kA) non-invasive TMS neuromodulation system. You’ll drive the architecture of the world’s most efficient, scalable brain stimulator—improving our current system while designing a next-gen v2. This is a hands-on role for a 10x engineer passionate about mental health, with the opportunity to build a team as we grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Circuit Design: Design and lay out control circuit boards and other key electronics.
• Firmware Development : Program in C++
• Component & Compliance: Specify components, ensure regulatory standards.
• Testing & Risk: Develop tests, manage safety risks, build to medical device standards.
• Contractor & Vendor Management: Oversee contractors, collaborate with vendors.

• Experience : 5+ years in the field; Bachelor in EE required, masters preferred.
