Gauge Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to support the development of a spacecraft and associated ground systems. This role will focus on electrical systems engineering across space-based and ground architectures, including requirements development, interface management, power analysis, system integration, and verification activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting complex aerospace or defense programs, collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, and utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to develop and maintain system architectures.
This position requires regular onsite support, with some hybrid flexibility
Key Responsibilities:
- Support development, decomposition, and management of electrical subsystem, box-level, and system-level requirements for space and ground architectures.
- Develop, maintain, and refine Electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs), interface definitions, and system architecture documentation.
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, thermal, cybersecurity, EMI/EMC, and software engineering teams to ensure successful system integration and compliance.
- Perform electrical power analysis, load assessments, and power budget development for spacecraft and supporting ground systems.
- Support electrical system integration, verification, validation, and test planning activities throughout the program lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain electrical architecture models and associated system artifacts within MBSE/Cameo environments, including ICDs, Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), and related products.
- Develop, review, and maintain grounding architectures, grounding diagrams, and electrical interface drawings.
- Support system requirements traceability, compliance assessments, and verification planning from higher-level system requirements through subsystem implementation.
- Contribute to technical risk identification, impact assessments, mitigation planning, and opportunity management.
- Coordinate and facilitate engineering task execution while identifying and resolving technical or programmatic blockers.
- Prepare and deliver technical briefings, design reviews, and presentations to engineering leadership, customers, and stakeholders.
- Support implementation of secure boot processes, system initialization functions, and cybersecurity considerations within hardware, firmware, and software architectures.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience supporting electrical engineering or electrical systems engineering activities.
- Experience with electronic hardware design, including PCB development, FPGA-based systems, or embedded electronics.
- Experience supporting aerospace, space, satellite, or other mission-critical electronic systems.
- Experience developing and managing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements development, decomposition, traceability, verification, and validation.
- Experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams in a complex technical environment.
- Familiarity with secure boot architectures, cybersecurity implementation, and system initialization processes.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting spacecraft or space vehicle development programs.
- Experience with high-performance System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures, including AMD/Xilinx or similar platforms.
- Experience with EMI/EMC compliance and spacecraft grounding architectures.
- Knowledge of electrical box-level design, integration, and verification activities.
- Experience supporting technical risk management and design review processes.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or other classified space programs.
