Job summary

Procter & Gamble Dayton Mix Center seeks an Electrical Systems Technician to own site electrical power systems from utility entry to 50 V sources, including battery charging and lift equipment support. You will manage maintenance, testing, and records, while ensuring compliance with HS&E standards and local codes.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and hands-on maintenance of high/low voltage equipment, with the ability to respond to power emergencies and coordinate

Job Location DYMC DAYTON MIX CENTER

Job Description The ESO is the overall owner of the sites electrical power systems and electrical safety system. They lead ICA training and qualifications. Technical mastery of power distribution, electrical codes, and P&G electrical safety standards will be required for success. Strong oral and written communication and excellent organizational skills are also required.

• Responsible for electrical power systems at the site from the utility service point down to 50 volts (including battery charging for switch gear, and lift trucks and AGVs). Power systems include high, medium and low voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, protective relays, generators, transformers, power distribution panels, motor control centers, panel boards, meters, power tools, and personal protective equipment.
• Responsible to keep single line drawings, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard studies up to date.
• Knowledgeable of and meets applicable codes and laws.
• Leads the review of proposed changes to electrical systems.
• Holds the level of safety qualification appropriate for the complexity and hazards of the electrical system at the site (refer to CBA 8016).
• Manages maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power systems.
• Responsible for testing and inspection of power system devices and equipment. Responsible to correct deficiencies or failures.
• Maintains equipment maintenance, repair, and test and inspection records.
• Responds to power system emergencies.
• Serves as the primary contact for the electric utility company concerning outages (planned and unplanned), utility reliability, etc.
• Knows (or can look up) the available capacity of power system equipment.
• Plans, manages, and completes follow up work for scheduled electrical outages (utilize CBA 8019).
• Maintains the site power system master plan which includes current capacities, potential projects, and capacity needs.
• Maintains a disaster recovery plan listing repair and replacement resources for critical equipment. This may be part of the master plan.
• Ensures electrical installations are done correctly and meet applicable codes and standards.
• Responsible for the Electrical Systems Design & Construct and Operate & Maintain checklists in the HS&E KEA. Participates in HS&E audits.
• Tracks defect handling.

Electrical Safety Responsibilities

• Responsible for the electrical safety program at the site.
• Maintains site electrical safe practices.
• Supports and provides electrical safety training and qualification per CBA 8016.
• Provides all employee electrical safety awareness training; task-specific electrical safety training; low and medium voltage electrical safety training.
• Manages energized electrical work permits at the site per CBA 8015 and local laws.
• Manages temporary wiring permit system
• Knowledgeable of and meets applicable codes and laws.
• Participates in the investigation, reporting, and follow up of electrical systems incidents.
• Maintains contacts and communication with the utility company as needed to manage electrical safety.
• Able to use single line drawings, short circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc flash hazard studies.
• Gives input to the Overall Risk Assessment in the review of proposed changes to electrical systems.
• Participates in the management, scheduling, procedures, methods, etc., for testing and inspection (test equipment, PPE, etc.).
• Manages the selection of tools, equipment, and PPE used for work on electrical systems using PCP 650 as a guide.
• Participates in the selection of electrical contractors (refer to CBA 8017).
• Participates in HS&E audits.

Job Qualifications

• 1. Lift up to 40lbs and Team Lift
• 2. Work at heights and in very narrow/confined spaces with required PPE such as a Full Body (Fall Safety) Harness
• 3. Climb, Bend, Lift, Twist, Squat and Crawl as required to execute system-related checks, maintenance, defect monitoring and cleaning.
• 4. Effectively learn and execute critical maintenance activities necessary to keep the equipment at the pre-defined standard and centerline
• 5. Consistently walk to, around and through the system for issue resolution with equipment.
• 6. Pushing and pulling (ex. Jammed pallet, working with a wrench to tighten bolt etc)
• 7. Reaching (ex. Restacking a fallen pallet, working on equipment above shoulder height or sometimes head height etc.) Finger dexterity (tightening bolts, adding washers etc.)
• 8. Low Voltage Qualification, electrical engineering technology degree OR Journeyman or Master Electrician Certificate.
