Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a significant role in the success of Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor with responsibility for multiple Foreman and crews. Your duties include organizing work, managing work methods, scheduling, controlling costs, ensuring conformity with drawings and specifications, overseeing workmanship, and assigning work to accomplish project execution, either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. You will also work to maintain positive relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

The Underground District has over 70 years of experience in constructing underground facilities and is recognized as a leader in tunneling. We have completed more than 100 underground projects worth billions of dollars, including transportation, water/wastewater, environmental facilities, power, mining, and telecommunications projects. We utilize advanced technology and proven construction methods to ensure excellence. Our decentralized structure allows us to compete locally and nationally.

Note that most work will be underground, involving TBM Rock, TBM Soft Ground, Sequential Excavation, Drill and Blast, Shaft Excavation, Concrete, Tunnel Rehab, and various Trenchless Methods.

Location

We go where the work is, offering abundant opportunities for your career. This role is based on our ongoing tunneling project in Ellicott City, MD, with relocation options for qualified candidates and future projects.

Responsibilities
  • Manage performance of craft labor, including productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis before all work.
  • Act as liaison between field engineering and craft to ensure compliance with drawings and specs.
  • Coordinate work with other superintendents, subcontractors, and staff to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist in planning work schedules, labor levels, material needs, and equipment.
  • Ensure procedures and safety policies are followed consistently.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of craft time cards.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work within the electrical scope.
  • Report potential issues to senior supervision and project management.
  • Help resolve and prevent work problems.
Qualifications
  • Two-year technical degree in construction or electrical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7+ years managing electrical crews and large underground projects.
  • Experience managing subcontractors on large underground projects.
  • Preferred experience programming or troubleshooting Siemens or Allen-Bradley software.
  • Preferred active Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • Proficient in the National Electric Code, Medium Voltage Systems, and Control Systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical construction, and control drawings.
  • Ability to work underground.

Other requirements include reliable attendance, effective communication, safety focus, and flexibility to work at various locations and hours.

Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 annually, with comprehensive benefits including health, retirement, and paid time off.
