Job summary

Bechtel Corporation seeks an experienced electrical construction leader to oversee field execution of a large EPC project. The role involves coordinating underground systems, cable runs, substations, and power distribution while leading supervisors and electricians on multiple fronts.

You will ensure safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to schedules, interfacing with engineering, QA/QC, vendors, logistics, and commissioning teams to achieve energization milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent required.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.

  • Supervise craft activities, plan workforce requirements, and manage subcontractor interfaces; ensure safety, quality, and productivity.

Project Overview

The project is a 1.3 GW simple‑cycle power generation facility located in Millersport, Ohio, being constructed adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility includes multiple power generation technologies such as Solar Titan 130 gas turbines, Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance of plant infrastructure. Construction will involve major civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, underground utility, control systems, and commissioning works required to support phased energization and turnover of the facility. Execution will combine direct hire and subcontracted labor supported by modularization, pre‑assembly, offsite warehousing, and advanced work packaging methodologies.

Job Summary

Provides overall field leadership, coordination, and execution oversight for all electrical construction activities including underground electrical systems, cable installation, temporary power, rotating equipment electrical scope, substations, power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation. Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and interface management across multiple simultaneous work fronts. Leads Electrical Supervisors and electricians, coordinating closely with Field Engineering, QA/QC, Vendors, Logistics, and Commissioning teams to achieve project milestones and energization requirements.

Major Responsibilities
  • Leadership / Supervision: Discipline supervision of superintendents supporting 50 to 100 craft or responsible for area/facility.
  • Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned (Direct Hire).
  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft (Direct Hire).
  • Planning / Productivity: Determines workforce requirements; coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Tools, Materials & Equipment: Oversees tool and equipment usage on the site; manages preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables to ensure craft professionals have the necessary tools.
  • Safety & Quality: Ensures the most current design documents are used and all design changes are approved prior to implementation; ensures construction operations and subcontractor performance are compliant with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Technical: Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents; manages engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Large EPC industrial or power project construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods and means.
  • Experience with substations, switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems.
  • Experience with cable installation, grounding, and underground electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and energization planning.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct hire crews, and vendor interfaces.
  • Knowledge of electrical testing, QA/QC, and turnover requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to drive safety, quality, and productivity performance.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering, logistics, and commissioning teams.
