Job summary

Bechtel Corporation is recruiting for a senior Civil Construction Lead on a large EPC project in the United States. You will provide overall field leadership, coordination, and execution oversight for all civil activities, including enabling works, earthworks, foundations, and utilities.

You will drive safety, quality, productivity, and turnover milestones while coordinating with engineering, logistics, and commissioning teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5–8 years of relevant experience (or 9–12 years total).
  • Experience on large EPC industrial or power projects.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate enabling works, earthworks, utilities, foundations, piling, drainage, and site works.

  • Supervise and direct craft activities and field supervision; ensure work complies with design documents.

Job description

Location: Fairbanks Township, IN, and other U.S. locations. Requisition ID: 296858.

Project Overview

The project is a 1.3 GW simple‑cycle power generation facility located in Millersport, Ohio, being constructed adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility includes multiple power generation technologies consisting of Solar Titan 130 gas turbines, Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance of plant infrastructure.

The scope includes major civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, underground utility, control systems, and commissioning works required to support phased energization and turnover of the facility. Construction will be executed through a combination of direct hire and subcontracted labor supported by modularization, pre‑assembly, off‑site warehousing, and advanced work packaging methodologies.

Job Summary

Provides overall field leadership, coordination, and execution oversight for all civil construction activities associated with the project including enabling works, earthworks, underground utilities, foundations, piling, temporary facilities, drainage, and site works. Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, construction sequencing, subcontractor coordination, and interface management across multiple simultaneous work fronts. Leads Civil Supervisors, Craft Professionals and coordinates closely with Field Engineering, Project Controls, ES&H, QA/QC, Logistics, and Commissioning teams to achieve project milestones and turnover requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership / Supervision: supervise supervisors supporting 50 craft or responsible for area/facility.
  • Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned.
  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
  • Determines workforce requirements.
  • Coordinates established area operational plans.
  • Oversees tool and equipment usage on the site.
  • Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.
  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Manages engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Large EPC industrial or power project construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction means and methods.
  • Earthworks, grading, and underground utility installation experience.
  • Heavy foundation and piling construction experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and direct hire crews.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and workface planning.
  • Experience with temporary facilities and site establishment.
  • Knowledge of SWPPP, erosion control, and dewatering systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to drive safety, quality, and productivity performance.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering, logistics, and commissioning teams.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and turnover planning preferred.
