Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Service Supervisor to lead a team of service technicians in commercial trades, equipment, components, and systems. You will guide daily field activities, ensure safety and quality, and support quotes and maintenance contracts.

Responsibilities include supervising technicians, coordinating with account managers, reviewing tickets, and mentoring staff to meet business goals. The role requires a strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skill set,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA-30 certification within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in service maintenance/repair in mechanical industry.
  • Trade/technical training preferred.
  • Knowledge of business/industry practices and standards.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise a team of service technicians in delivery and financial performance of service agreements, repairs, and time & material work.
  • Communicate work responsibilities and standards to the team and ensure policy adherence.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians as needed.
  • Assist with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth.
  • Review tickets and field paperwork; ensure accurate descriptions and proper time application; resolve issues with technicians.
  • Coordinate with account managers to understand customer scope before assuming responsibility for repairs or maintenance contracts.
  • Monitor work quality, cost estimates, and customer expectations; ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage supplies and equipment for technicians on projects; visit sites to verify work quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions; escalate when needed; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Support development of technician skills; coordinate with Service Operations Manager to develop training curriculum.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed.

Position Summary

Supervises a team of service technicians in the safe and efficient service of commercial industry trades, equipment, components & systems.

Position Details
  • Directs and supervises assigned service technicians in the overall delivery and financial performance of a book of business - made up of Service Agreements, Quoted Repairs and T&M (Time & Material) Work.
  • Clearly communicates work responsibilities and accountabilities and ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to technicians as needed.
  • Assists with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth initiatives.
  • Reviews service tickets and other field paperwork. Assures time is correctly applied and descriptions of work are accurate and appropriate. Addresses and resolves any issues with technician.
  • Coordinates with account managers to discuss and fully understand customer scope of service prior to assuming responsibility for quoted repairs or new maintenance contracts.
  • Monitors work performed to ensure quality of work, cost estimates and customer expectations are met.
  • Manages the selection, ordering and delivery of supplies and equipment for technicians on assigned projects.
  • Makes periodic visits to work sites. Ensure customers are satisfied with work performed. Evaluates technician performance and ensure compliance to safety standards.
  • Investigates customer complaints to help remedy the situation and promptly implement corrective measures as required. Escalates problem to next level of management when necessary.
  • Ensures technicians adhere to all legal, regulatory compliance, safety and risk management policies and procedures. Promotes safe working behaviors.
  • Supports the development of technical skills and knowledge of the technicians. Coordinate with Service Operations Manager to develop technician training curriculum as needed.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Qualifications
  • High school degree or GED
  • 5 years of experience performing service maintenance and repair work within the mechanical industry
  • OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire
  • Successful completion of a trade/technical training program preferred
  • Working knowledge of business/industry practices, processes and standards
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills and other related business application
