ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Health and Safety (Electrical) to lead safety and risk engagements for high-hazard environments. You will mentor professionals, manage client relationships, and travel up to 60% to deliver field assessments and safety program improvements.

In a global safety and risk practice, you’ll design and implement electrical safety solutions, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, review technical studies, and help clients achieve world-class EHS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Safety or related engineering field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of consulting in safety management, risk, or EHS performance.
  • Experience managing client relationships, proposals, and contracts.
  • Experience in high-hazard industrial or construction environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926), with field application.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical safety program assessments against OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Perform electrical shock and arc flash risk assessments.
  • Review arc flash studies, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination studies.
  • Evaluate electrical safe work practices (ESWP), energized work procedures, and lockout/tagout programs.
  • Conduct fire and life safety assessments for existing and new facilities.
  • Evaluate compliance with applicable fire codes, building codes, and fire protection standards.
  • Support permit applications, equivalency requests, and variance submissions.
  • Evaluate lithium-ion battery storage, charging, and deployment operations.
  • Support compliance evaluations against NFPA 855, IFC, UL standards, and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement innovative safety and risk management programs that help clients proactively manage operational, compliance, and workplace safety risks.
  • Lead complex safety and process safety projects, including audits, assessments, safety studies, and strategic program development.
  • Design solutions addressing construction safety, management systems, serious injury and fatality prevention, process safety, machine safety, and safety culture improvement.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and verification of risk controls.
  • Coach leaders and frontline personnel to strengthen safety leadership capabilities and improve organizational performance.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex health, safety, and risk management challenges.
  • Conduct field-based assessments and observations to verify the effectiveness of safety controls and programs.
  • Partner with clients to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainable performance gains.
  • Build and expand client relationships that generate repeat business and long‑term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with ERM account teams, Principals, and Partners to develop proposals, win new work, and grow the Safety and Risk practice.
  • Lead, mentor, develop, and inspire technical professionals to achieve project and business objectives.
  • Support project managers in delivering high-quality work that meets scope, budget, schedule, and client expectations.
  • Deliver training, field coaching, workshops, and targeted assessments that help clients strengthen safety performance and organizational capability.
  • Collaborate with ERM's global network of technical experts to share best practices and deliver integrated client solutions.
