Job description

Electrical Safety Manager, Mission Critical
On-site in Barstow, TX with extensive U.S. Travel

Our client is expanding its mission critical construction capabilities and is seeking an experienced electrical safety leader to help set the standard for safe energization and commissioning across complex project environments. This is a highly visible field role for someone who understands electrical risk at a technical level and can turn that knowledge into disciplined execution. You will have the authority to influence critical work, coach project teams, strengthen energy-control practices, and intervene when conditions do not meet established safety requirements.

This Role Offers
  • Significant influence over electrical safety practices during energization, commissioning, and project turnover.
  • A field-focused position with direct interaction across construction, engineering, commissioning, and trade teams.
  • Opportunities to improve electrical safety programs by applying lessons learned across multiple project locations.
Focus
  • Own the sitewide electrical safety framework for energization, isolation, controlled access, and LOTO activities.
  • Confirm systems are prepared for safe energization by reviewing field conditions, commissioning documentation, quality records, and planned sequences.
  • Evaluate isolation procedures, switching plans, permits, and field practices to verify that controls are practical, complete, and consistently followed.
  • Use one-line diagrams and technical drawings to identify sources, redundancies, equipment relationships, and defensible isolation boundaries.
  • Provide visible field leadership during high-risk electrical work, including hazard planning meetings and critical energy-control activities.
  • Audit electrical rooms, access controls, work boundaries, permits, and site execution against established safety expectations.
  • Translate electrical risk and energy-control requirements into clear direction for craft professionals, commissioning teams, engineers, and project leaders.
  • Partner with project leadership to strengthen energization and commissioning practices through lessons learned, trend identification, and corrective action.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when electrical or energy-isolation conditions fall outside approved requirements.
Skill Set
  • Current NFPA 70E training or certification is required.
  • Bring at least 4 years of experience in electrical safety, energy isolation, commissioning safety, or a closely aligned discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong command of LOTO, isolation verification, audit practices, and environments with multiple energy sources.
  • Understand safe installation and operation of electrical equipment spanning multiple voltage levels and both AC and DC systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and technical drawings used to establish boundaries, sources, and redundant paths.
  • Communicate confidently in the field, lead safety conversations, and conduct disciplined audits with diverse project stakeholders.
  • Travel extensively to active project locations across the United States.
  • Data center, mission critical, construction, commissioning, energization, or turnover experience is strongly preferred.
  • A related bachelor's degree is preferred, although equivalent construction and electrical safety experience may be considered.
