Quala is seeking an Electrical Rework Prototyping Technician to support a prototyping engineering team in consumer electronics hardware development through board-level rework, electrical troubleshooting, and rapid prototyping with Arduino and other microcontrollers. • SMT rework up to 0201 components under magnification with inspection and verification.
• Ability to work independently, clarify incomplete requirements, prioritize requests, escalate and communicate progress.

Responsibilities

• Perform board-level rework from schematics, assembly drawings, and rework instructions; diagnose faults; and modify components as needed for build and prototype testing.
• Coordinate rework requests, clarify priorities and requirements, provide status updates, and document completed work.
• Build and debug rapid prototypes using breadboards, microcontrollers, sensors, wiring, power supplies, and lighting or actuator controls; document wiring, firmware, and operation.
• Support prototype and engineering builds by isolating and resolving electrical issues, then communicate root cause, repair status, risks, and next steps.

Job Description: Electrical Rework Prototyping Technician

Summary:

Quala is seeking an Electrical Rework Prototyping Technician to support a prototyping engineering team in consumer electronics hardware development through board-level rework, electrical troubleshooting, and rapid prototyping with Arduino and other microcontrollers. In this role you will handle concurrent requests, communicate status and risks, document results, and follow lab, ESD, and equipment-safety practices.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art prototyping lab that is based in Redmond, WA.

Core Responsibilities:

• Perform board-level rework from schematics, assembly drawings, and rework instructions; diagnose faults; and remove, replace, or modify components for build, test, and prototype needs.
• Coordinate rework requests, clarify priorities and requirements, provide status updates, and document completed work.
• Build and debug rapid prototypes using breadboards, microcontrollers, sensors, wiring, power supplies, and lighting or actuator controls; integrate them with mechanical prototypes and document wiring, firmware, and operation.
• Support prototype and engineering builds by isolating and resolving electrical issues, then communicate root cause, repair status, risks, and next steps.

Required Skills/Experience:

• High-quality SMT rework under magnification, including components as small as 0201, jumper wires, inspection, continuity checks, and functional verification.
• Able to work independently, clarify incomplete requirements, prioritize requests, escal ... and communicate progress and blockers.
• Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, power distribution, common communication protocols, schematics, datasheets, polarity and pinouts, and ESD-safe handling.
• Technical training, certification, or equivalent hands-on electronics experience preferred. Success is measured by rework quality, turnaround, troubleshooting accuracy, documentation, safe lab practices, and reliable prototypes.

Tools and platforms:

• Soldering stations and reflow ovens
• Device programmers, debug probes, and development boards for flashing firmware, recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and waveform generators for measurement, fault isolation, and repair verification.
• Arduino or comparable microcontroller firmware, including analog and digital I/O, common interfaces, sensors, and basic control logic.
• Sensor, power, and light integration and control

Nice to Have:

• Portfolio or personal projects using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, custom PCBs, embedded systems, or other hands-on electronics.
• Experience taking rapid electrical prototypes from concept through demonstration, including debugging, mechanical integration, and engineering handoff.
