Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an Engineer to assess reliability of Pennsylvania's distribution systems in an onsite role with locations in Hanover, Gettysburg, or York. You will analyze performance, develop plans, and support regulatory reporting to ensure a reliable electrical infrastructure.

Requires a BS in Engineering/Engineering Technology (ABET) with preferred PE/license or advanced degree; experience with NESC/NEC and switching/ tagging, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration is

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution is required.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is considered a plus.
Experience and knowledge of electrical systems, operations, and maintenance practices, switching and tagging, computer systems, work management and electrical controls are desired.

Responsibilities

Assessing and improving the electrical distribution system's reliability performance for all Pennsylvania Operating Areas.
Developing and maintaining strategic plans to achieve reliability performance targets and metrics including a long-range vision for system improvement and modernization.
Developing and overseeing long-term infrastructure improvement plans (LTIIP).
Supporting PA Operations through data analysis including outage projects, circuit lockouts, frequent device interruptions (DEMI), customers experiencing multiple interruptions (CEMI), and worst performing circuits (WPC).
Preparing and presenting reliability performance and regulatory required reports.
Preparing budget estimates and schedules for distribution system reliability projects.
Supporting customer inquiry responses and power quality studies as needed.
Monitoring field inoperable equipment logs for remediation needs.
Maintaining familiarity with state regulatory requirements for distribution inspection and maintenance.
Developing and providing technical information to support the Distribution Control Center to ensure safe and efficient operation of the electrical system.
Supporting the storm process as needed, either as a hazard dispatcher / responder, storm analyst or line shop analyst.
May be assigned special projects as business needs require.
