Job summary

B&I Contractors, Inc. is Florida’s growing MEP contractor seeking an Electrical Superintendent to lead multiple project sites, supervise Foremen, and ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.

You will coordinate with PM and field teams, read plans and specs, review materials, and drive safety and performance across projects in the Florida market. This role demands strong leadership and a focus on quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of field experience, including 4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Electrical systems and applicable codes.
  • Experience with scheduling and manpower planning.
  • Florida Driver’s License required.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Electrical Superintendent oversees and coordinates multiple project sites and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and construction activities. This role provides leadership to Foremen and field personnel, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. The Superintendent acts as a liaison between project management and field operations to drive performance and maintain excellence in workmanship and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Foster a culture of quality, integrity, safety, and teamwork.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of Foremen and field teams across assigned projects to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and company standards.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and submittals.
  • Review and approve procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Plan and allocate manpower and resources to maximize field productivity and minimize project delays or conflicts.
  • Conduct regular project site visits to assess progress, safety compliance, and quality of work; identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Evaluate and mentor Foremen and field staff through performance appraisals, feedback, and ongoing coaching to promote professional growth and accountability.
  • Ensure all assigned Foreman are completing accurate records including daily timekeeping, daily logs, safety documentation, and all other required forms.
  • Coordinate closely with the VDC team to validate the precision and constructability of finalized shop drawings.
  • Work with the PM & Foreman to develop project manpower projections.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project management, foreman, and client representative.
  • Oversee the labor tracking process for assigned projects to ensure foreman are updating progress accurately and consistently.
  • Participate in jobsite meeting with project foreman on a weekly basis, aiming for in-person attendance whenever feasible (at least once every two weeks)
  • Uplift and motivate Foreman and team members to promote healthy job-site environment and attitude.
  • Provide accurate cost to complete reports on monthly basis.
  • Monitor and coordinate equipment and material delivery dates with project managers based on jobsite schedules.
  • Provide approval for shop drawings in timely manner to VDC department and PMs.
  • Monitor look ahead schedules and identify risks early to avoid financial impacts.
  • Interface with prefabrication department to facilitate complete assemblies on time to meet project requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 6 years of field experience, including at least four years in a supervisory or Foreman role.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, coordination, and manpower planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Electrical systems and applicable codes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across trades and departments.
  • Proficiency in computer-based scheduling, reporting, and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management software).
  • Strong understanding of FL Building, and AHCA codes.
  • Knowledge of lighting controls.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
