Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Solvay Mill in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to manage capital projects, focusing on electrical, instrumentation and control systems. You will oversee design, procurement, construction management, and commissioning across multiple projects within a structured FEL/FEP framework.

Responsibilities include coordinating with maintenance and operations, supporting outage planning, providing E&I technical guidance, and ensuring safety as a leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related electrical field.
• 5 years of experience in job offered or related occupation.
• Experience in process design, power distribution, PLC/DCS and variable speed drives.
• Capital project development, execution, and installation/commissioning.
• Troubleshooting plant electrical equipment and systems.
• Experience with paper machine sectional drive upgrades. ABB ACS 880 drives highly preferred.
• Experience with paper machine hydraulic systems including press section hydraulics and shoe presses.
• FEL/FEP CAPEX project life cycle implementation.
• Manage and lead FAT/SAT acceptance tests on facility electrical intensive capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple capital projects (electrical, instrumentation and/or controls) from design through commissioning.
• Develop projects within FEL/FEP framework from business case to approval/execution.
• Provide E&I engineering support to other department project engineers as needed.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to identify materials and equipment for project completion.
• Support maintenance and operations, including outage planning related to capital projects.
