Job summary

Sargent Electric Company in Pittsburgh, PA seeks an experienced Project Engineer to provide technical oversight for engineering scopes on EPC or design-build projects. You’ll help define solutions, optimize schedules, and coordinate with PM, field teams, and vendors to meet challenging milestones.

The role involves travel to job sites nationwide and potential short-term on-site assignments, supporting a wide range of electrical projects from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• A four-year electrical engineering degree or construction management degree preferred; 5–8 years experience may substitute.
• Ability to comprehend and provide input on single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, protection & control.
• Knowledge of studies including lightning, grounding, short circuit, load flow, arc flash, protection coordination, and relay settings.
• Experience coordinating multi-discipline packages across civil, structural, HVAC, electrical, and other systems.
• Experience in energy projects including utility and power design from LV to EHV is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of engineering scopes for EPC or design-build projects.
• Develop cost-effective, constructable designs and safe solutions for energized systems.
• Coordinate with PM and Field Management; ensure subcontractors have qualified teams.
• Support proposals by identifying critical equipment, materials, and technical solutions.
• Assist in defining schedules, budgets, and project-related reports; maintain updates.
• Collaborate with clients, owners, engineers, and vendors to optimize project outcomes.
• Ensure contract requirements are understood and adhered to throughout work.
