Job summary

Altieri, a 65-year-old MEPF engineering firm, designs electrical, fire alarm, and low voltage systems for iconic museums, galleries, theatres, and universities nationwide.

The Project Engineer will collaborate with other engineers, perform load and lighting calculations, draft in Revit, review submittals, participate in RFIs, and support sustainability goals; a Bachelor’s in electrical or architectural engineering and 4+ years’ experience are required, with EIT/PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• EIT certification or PE license preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Autodesk Revit

Responsibilities

• System design: calculations.
• Electric service load calculations.
• Lighting calculations.
• COMcheck energy calculations.
• System design: drafting with Revit; produces drawing sets including notes, details, and single line riser diagrams.
• Selects equipment such as distribution boards, panelboards, light fixtures, lighting control systems, and fire alarm devices.
• Gains understanding of different electrical system types (MV, service entrance, grounding).
• Learns outline and book specifications.
• Life Safety: researches code and fire alarm requirements; performs emergency power generator load calculations.
• Construction Administration: reviews submittals and RFIs; attends meetings; responds to RFIs.
• Sustainability: LEED certifications and related documentation; participates in sustainability meetings.
• Design Coordination: collaborates across trades; identifies and resolves conflicts.
• Client Interface: participates in client meetings; responsive to requests.
• Code/References: uses NEC and NFPA to inform design and calculations.
