Job description

Electrical and Automation Project Engineer

Develop and manage electrical and automation capital investment projects across multiple Vallourec sites in Youngstown.

Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Maintenance Manager on all aspects of equipment electrical and automation systems, including:

1. Wonderware upgrades
2. Traceability projects
3. Energy conservation initiatives
4. IT interface support for updates and upgrades
5. PLC and HMI upgrades
6. Ethernet conversions
7. Technical procedure documentation
8. Scope of work development
9. Project quoting
10. Electrical and automation safety initiatives

Manage maintenance of plant emergency generators to ensure reliable power for critical circuits.

Develop and maintain technical documents and prints, ensuring accessibility for all personnel and collaborating with vendors for updated drawings.

Coordinate with Maintenance leadership to resolve and prevent issues, and communicate best practices for hardware updates and industry 4.0 advancements.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS Office Suite
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% for supplier visits and factory acceptance tests
• Flexibility in working hours and availability for consultation
• Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and IEEE standards

Education, Training, and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5-10 years project management experience preferred
• Technical training on Allen Bradley and ABB PLCs, drives, and breakers
• Experience in mill environments preferred
• Project management training
• Knowledge of low and medium voltage equipment
• Electrical Code training
