Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Toledo, Oregon, is seeking an innovative Project Engineer (Electrical) to support electrical, instrumentation, and controls at our Toledo mill. You will work with project managers, process controls engineers, and maintenance teams on design, assessments, and troubleshooting in a large, integrated production operation.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or are close to completion, with hands‑on experience in industrial settings and AutoCAD drawing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or completion within a year.
  • Industrial co‑op, internship, or early‑career experience in manufacturing or mill environment.
  • Experience creating and modifying electrical AutoCAD drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical engineering capability while supporting project managers, process controls engineers, maintenance, and reliability teams
  • Assist with electrical and instrumentation design packages for small mill engineering projects while building technical skills through hands‑on coaching
  • Coordinate additional outside electrical engineering as needed to support larger projects
  • Support mill’s electrical power distribution engineer with troubleshooting and maintenance of power systems
  • Project manage small electrical‑based engineering projects with scope development, budgeting, and scheduling, and electrical construction management
  • Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement with electrical and instrumentation reliability

Job description

Our Georgia-Pacific mill in Toledo, Oregon is seeking an innovative and forward-thinking individual to join our team as an Project Engineer (Electrical) . This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the mill’s engineering team to provide electrical, instrumentation, and controls support to project engineers with assessments, design, and expertise at this large fully-integrated production operation. Our Team

This role is part of the engineering department at the Toledo mill and will support electrical, instrumentation, and controls design across the site. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced mill engineering leaders through a structured development approach, including a two-year training path focused on building and checking off key technical skills if needed. Georgia-Pacific Toledo is a producer of brown paper used to make cardboard and is a leader in recycling in the Northwest. The Toledo Mill is located within a 10-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean. What You Will Do
  • Develop electrical engineering capability while supporting project managers, process controls engineers, maintenance, and reliability teams

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or completion within a year
  • Some industrial experience, such as a co-op, internship, or early-career engineering experience in a manufacturing, mill, or industrial environment
  • Experience creating and modifying electrical AutoCAD drawings
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with pulp and paper manufacturing technology and systems
  • Experience as an electrical engineer in a heavy industrial environment, including senior-level experience
  • Experience with valves and instrumentation specification
  • Experience with: Three phase power distribution, 480V three phase motors with variable frequency drive configurations, AC/DC drives and motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical drives and power distribution Experience with Reliability Improvement tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs
  • Proficient at Microsoft Project
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
