AMPAM is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems for multi-family residential new construction projects in California. You will ensure designs meet code, budget, and schedule while collaborating with project managers, architects, and construction teams.

The role requires 3–7 years of electrical experience, knowledge of NEC/IECC/NFPA, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM/ETAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred.
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 3-7 years of experience in electrical for multi-family or commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, IECC, NFPA, and local codes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Excel and electrical design software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and manage electrical system designs for multi-family projects.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specs, and NEC-compliant documentation.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to coordinate designs.
  • Assist PM with budgeting, scheduling, and take-offs.
  • Perform site visits to monitor progress and ensure code compliance.
  • Conduct load calculations and energy efficiency assessments as needed.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Provide field support and resolve onsite issues.
  • Uphold safety and QA throughout all phases.
  • Participate in project closeout, commissioning, and as-built docs.

Job Summary

The Electrical Project Engineer will support the design, coordination, and execution of electrical systems for multi-family residential new construction projects. This role involves managing all technical aspects of electrical engineering—ensuring that designs meet code requirements, budgets, schedules, and quality standards—while collaborating closely with project managers, architects, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following)
  • Develop, review, and manage electrical system designs including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage, and communication systems for multi-family projects.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with NEC, local codes, and client standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural, and mechanical engineers to ensure coordinated design solutions.
  • Support project managers in budgeting, scheduling, and take-offs of electrical components and systems.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, inspect installations, and ensure adherence to design intent and code compliance.
  • Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and energy efficiency assessments as needed.
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to electrical work.
  • Provide technical support during construction and assist in resolving field issues.
  • Ensure safety standards and quality assurance practices are maintained throughout all project phases.
  • Participate in project closeout activities including commissioning, testing, and as-built documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 3-7 years of experience in the electrical field for multi-family or commercial new construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, IECC, NFPA, and local building codes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Excel and electrical design software (e.g., SKM, ETAP).
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

The expected hiring pay range for this position is $35 - $42+ per hour. Actual pay within this range will be determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, and specific skills. AMPAM is growing an we encourage candidates whose expectations are outside of this range to still apply!
