Job Description
This is a dynamic role responsible for the design management and production of electrical building systems. The successful candidate will possess the capability to work independently to complete most projects assigned, from proposal and conceptual design through to project closeout, with limited assistance from a Senior Engineer or Director.
- Support the electrical design of systems for various building types and project scopes, including power systems, lighting, fire alarm, and other electrical components.
- Ensure electrical designs meet building codes, safety standards, and regulations set by local authorities, and that drawings and designs conform to company standards.
- Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other professionals to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into building designs.
- Incorporate energy-efficient technologies and practices into electrical designs to minimize energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Estimate costs associated with electrical designs and ensure projects stay within budget.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues during design, construction, or operation phases.
- Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for electrical systems to guide construction and maintenance.
- Stay updated with advancements in electrical engineering technologies, building codes, and industry standards.
- Perform construction administration and field investigations for lighting, power, and fire alarm systems.
- Collaborate with Technical Leaders and Senior Engineers to ensure adherence to standards and manage project scope deviations or additional services.
- Attend project meetings and conduct site visits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the MEP consulting space.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable design and building codes.
