Job description

Electrical Project Engineer

The Electrical Project Engineer will lead the electrical quality‑control efforts on site, including document review from pre‑construction through commissioning and punch list. The role collaborates with design professionals, clients, subcontractors and craftspeople to address complex electrical coordination issues and serves on the front line to avoid and resolve technical problems.

Location: Amarillo, TX
Salary Range: $78,000 – $135,000 + Per diem & Incentives

Essential Responsibilities
  • Interpret construction documents, control sequences and technical manuals.
  • Use latest technology such as laser digital scanning, BIM, Bluebeam and other project tools.
  • Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs and activity checklists.
  • Organize and file record documents.
  • Store and retrieve information using computer and handheld electronic hardware.
  • Act as technical advisor at the onsite field construction office for the electrical scope of work.
  • Access all areas and levels of the construction site to review work progress.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) regarding the electrical scope of work.
  • Coordinate electrical work associated with mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Run startup meetings involving Area Construction Managers, design team members, subcontractors, local utility agencies and owners to coordinate and drive electrical system start‑up activities.
  • Interface between Area Construction Managers and multiple subcontractors to assist in coordinating electrical startups.
  • Verify all documentation is complete and equipment ready for startup is construction‑complete and safe to begin.
  • Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, architectural and structural elements within the overall project design.
  • Facilitate training of owner personnel in operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Review and process project submittal information, ensuring accuracy and functionality of each component.
  • Manage requests for information and change documents issued by other offices.
  • Conduct field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate overtime or off‑shift work as required by changing construction sequences.
  • Communicate clearly in speech, writing and computer formatting for responding to information requests.
  • Lifting and carrying documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to relocate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent in materials and methods of construction.
  • Exceptional knowledge of startup of mechanical and electrical equipment and coordination of subcontractor activities.
  • Experience organizing technical data accurately; familiarity with CSI specification system.
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft personnel in a field environment; patience, politeness and cooperative attitude required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, often interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions.
  • Training in blueprint reading and survey theory and techniques.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), critical‑path method scheduling software (Suretrack Project Manager or Primavera P6), AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Building Information Modeling and Navisworks.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Standing/walking/sitting throughout the workday.
  • Climb ladders/stairs 5% of day; constant use of hands/fingers for mouse, keyboard, computer.
  • Visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing sufficient to handle conversational and alarm sounds, telephone and radio.
  • Speech sufficient for public speaking, telephone and radio communication.
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs rarely.
  • Minimal bending/twisting; minimal kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy and attention to detail required.
  • Work independently, make decisions and follow through on all assignments.
  • Use creativity, independent judgment and problem‑solving skills to determine best methods.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Strong organizational and computer use skills; high level of English proficiency with written and spoken communication.
