Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Electrical Procurement Lead for our Construction Procurement Solutions team in New York City, NY. The role focuses on the procurement of electrical equipment for multiple projects, from bidding to assignment to trade partners.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (Master’s a plus) or 5+ years of construction procurement experience, with strong negotiation and supplier-management skills to drive risk-aware sourcing and cost-efficient

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of construction procurement/estimating experience acceptable in lieu of formal education.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven insights.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship management with suppliers.
• Knowledge of supply chain risk management practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for electrical equipment.
• Obtain bids from compatible suppliers and manage basis-of-design considerations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align supply needs with project goals.
• Identify suppliers, assess capabilities, and ensure compatibility with organizational needs.
• Negotiate terms to optimize lead times and service levels.
• Maintain supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Implement risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions.
