Job description

Electrical Power Systems Architect - Space

EVONA is exclusively partnered with a venture-backed space company developing next-generation orbital energy systems. They are seeking a Senior Power Electronics / Electrical Power System (EPS) Architect to lead the design of a high-voltage (~400V) spacecraft power system supporting mission subsystems and high-power payloads.

This role owns the end-to-end EPS architecture - from solar array interfaces through regulation, storage, protection, and distribution -and works closely with electrical, controls, and payload teams to close technical risk and drive integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own detailed electrical architecture for a high-voltage spacecraft power system
  • Define power generation, storage, regulation, and distribution strategies
  • Lead design of S3R-based solar array interfaces, battery regulation, bus conversion, and HV/LV distribution
  • Select DC–DC converter topologies (isolated/non-isolated)
  • Define over-current, over-voltage, arc fault, and isolation schemes
  • Specify derating, thermal margins, EMI/EMC compliance
  • Support schematics, layout guidance, and design reviews
High-Voltage & Space Environment
  • Define insulation, grounding, and coating strategies
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace HV standards (e.g., NASA-STD-4005)
  • Lead system-level FMEA and fault response design
  • Support integration with control systems, avionics, and high-power payloads
  • Define verification strategy and support hardware bring-up and testing
Required Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years in power electronics and/or spacecraft EPS design
  • Experience with high-voltage DC systems, power conversion, and system-level architecture
  • Strong knowledge of solar array regulation (S3R/MPPT), battery integration, and fault-tolerant distribution
  • Experience taking hardware from concept through test
  • Radiation and space-environment design awareness
