Job summary

Norsk Hydro in Rockledge, FL seeks a skilled Electrical/PLC Technician to support engineering and manufacturing. You will read ladder logic, troubleshoot 480VAC/24VDC circuits, and help build electrical panels compliant with NFPA and Hydro standards.

You will collaborate with engineers to test prototypes, observe PLC I/O, and troubleshoot faults, ensuring safety and quality in all tasks. Join a team focused on safety, efficiency and 5S practices, with opportunities to drive process improvements

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret ladder logic, specifically Allen-Bradley.
• Experience with 480VAC 3-phase and 24VDC control circuits.
• Able to connect to PLCs to observe I/O status and verify signal paths.
• Understanding of NFPA and Hydro standards for electrical panels.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical repair skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to build, modify, and test prototypes and new manufacturing processes.
• Utilize PLC ladder logic as a diagnostic tool to monitor program flow and identify the root cause of hardware or sequence failures.
• Connect to PLC processors to observe I/O status and verify signal paths, ensuring a clear path for troubleshooting before mechanical intervention.
• Lead the construction of electrical panels for in-house projects in accordance with NFPA and Hydro standards.
• Act as a technical escalation point for the maintenance team to assist with complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Work fluently from verbal instructions, prints, sketches, and schematics while ensuring all work meets national and local codes.
• Identify and recommend process enhancements to maximize facility efficiencies and 5S standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain work flow or respond to emergency conditions.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5 S standards.
• Requires the ability to perform all duties within limitation of the standard methods and procedures, and in accordance with strict adherence to HSE, quality and productivity requirements
