Job summary

Hydro Extrusion USA, LLC is seeking an Engineering Technician in Rockledge, FL to collaborate with engineers on prototypes and manufacturing processes. You will diagnose PLC-related faults, observe PLC I/O, and help build electrical panels for in-house projects.

Key tasks include reading prints and schematics, following NFPA and Hydro standards, and supporting mechanical/electrical repairs as needed to maintain productivity and safety.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic to diagnose faults.
  • Bridge between physical electrical components and their digital PLC representation.
  • Experience with 480VAC (3-phase) and 24VDC control circuits.
  • Construct electrical panels per NFPA and company standards.
  • Assist with complex mechanical/electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers to build, modify, and test prototypes and processes.
  • Use PLC ladder logic as diagnostic tool to monitor flow and root cause failures.
  • Connect to PLC processors to observe I/O status and verify signal paths.
  • Lead construction of electrical panels for in-house projects.
  • Serve as escalation point for maintenance team on repairs.
  • Work from prints, sketches, and schematics while following codes.
  • Identify process enhancements to improve facility efficiency and 5S.

What you will be doing
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to build, modify, and test prototypes and new manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize PLC ladder logic as a diagnostic toolto monitor program flow and identify the root cause of hardware or sequence failures.
  • Connect to PLC processors to observe I/O status and verify signal paths, ensuring a clear path for troubleshooting before mechanical intervention.
  • Lead the construction of electrical panels for in-house projects in accordance with NFPA and Hydro standards.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for the maintenance team to assist with complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Work fluently from verbal instructions, prints, sketches, and schematics while ensuring all work meets national and local codes.
  • Identify and recommend process enhancements to maximize facility efficiencies and 5S standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain work flow or respond to emergency conditions.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition in accordance with 5 S standards.
  • Requires the ability to perform all duties within limitation of the standard methods and procedures, and in accordance with strict adherence to HSE, quality and productivity requirements

  • High proficiency inreading and interpreting existing ladder logic(specifically Allen-Bradley) to identify fault conditions and verify inputs/outputs.
  • Strong ability to bridge the gap between physical electrical components and their digital representation in a PLC program.
  • Competent working with 480VAC (3-phase) and 24VDC low-voltage control circuits.
  • Skilled in using trade equipment such as drill presses, band saws, and knockouts; proficient with precision measuring instruments.
