Job summary

Pasco County BOCC seeks qualified Plans Examiner I-III (Electrical) to professionally review residential and commercial building plans for compliance with applicable codes and statutes.

Position may be filled at I, II, or III level based on education, experience, and licensure. Responsibilities include evaluating plans, guiding design professionals, and ensuring permits and inspections meet state and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a related field and one year of plan review experience or equivalent.
• Or graduation from high school and three years of plan review experience or as a building construction worker with licensed contractor experience.
• Plans Examiner II requires three years' experience as a Plans Examiner or five years with a high school diploma.
• Plans Examiner III requires a Bachelor's degree and five years' experience or seven years' experience as a Plans Examiner.

Responsibilities

• Examine construction documents for conformity with building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, gas, and flood control codes.
• Provide technical assistance to property owners and public agencies; communicate results to design professionals.
• Prepare clear, concise reports and maintain professional relationships with contractors and inspectors.
