Job summary

JLL in Raleigh, NC seeks an Electrical Operating Engineer to maintain and optimize critical electrical systems across facilities. You will monitor switchgear, transformers, and building automation, ensuring reliable operations and safety compliance while supporting 24/7 site coverage.

You will lead preventive maintenance, troubleshoot alarms, document performance data, mentor junior staff, and participate in energy efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma and completion of an electrical operating engineer training program or apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Proficiency with CMMS and building automation controls; ability to read schematics and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate electrical distribution systems to ensure reliable facility operations.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on emergency generators, UPS, and related equipment.
• Respond to alarms, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
• Conduct inspections and testing per safety codes and manufacturer specs; maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety protocols and OSHA regulations; mentor junior staff.
