Job summary

PRISMECS is seeking an experienced Electrical O&M Technician to support a 40 MW diesel-generator power plant in Odessa, Texas. The role involves day-to-day operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of MV and LV distribution systems for temporary power facilities.

Candidates must have hands-on experience with MV electrical systems and generator synchronization. Rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, are required, with training and safety programs in place.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in MV electrical systems, switchgear, and generator paralleling operations.
• Working knowledge of protective relays, breakers, and MV switchgear operations.
• Experience with generator control/synchronization panels (e.g., Woodward EasyGen).
• Ability to read single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and electrical safety awareness (NFPA 70E).
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection and monitoring of MV switchgear, breakers, and transformers; record voltages and status.
• Monitor generator parameters and support synchronization/paralleling operations.
• Conduct routine electrical inspections and preventive maintenance of switchgear, breakers, and transformers.
• Support protective relay operations, breaker racking, and fault troubleshooting.
• Assist energization/de-energization sequences and LOTO procedures per switching orders.
• Maintain switching logs and electrical operation records.
• Identify and report abnormalities to the O&M Lead immediately.
• Complete daily shift logs and support commissioning/testing activities as needed.
• Support EHS compliance including arc flash PPE and safe electrical work practices.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Position Summary

PRISMECS is seeking an experienced Electrical O&M Technician to support a 40 MW diesel-generator power plant in Odessa, Texas.

The Electrical O&M Technician is responsible for the day-to-day electrical operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of the medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems supporting the temporary power facility. This includes switchgear, transformers, protective relays, circuit breakers, generator electrical systems, and associated electrical balance-of-plant equipment.

Candidates must have hands-on experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, switchgear operations, and generator synchronization or paralleling activities. This position requires rotating 12-hour shift coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection and monitoring of MV switchgear (Load SWGR Lineup #1 & #2), breakers, and transformers — voltage, load current, relay status, breaker position
• Monitor generator electrical parameters (voltage, frequency, load, power factor) and support synchronization/paralleling operations
• Conduct routine electrical inspections and preventive maintenance on switchgear, breakers, and transformers
• Support protective relay operations, breaker racking, and troubleshooting of electrical faults (trips, alarms, fuse failures)
• Assist with energization/de-energization sequences, LOTO procedures, and switching operations per approved switching orders
• Maintain and update the switching log and electrical operations records
• Identify and report electrical abnormalities (overheating, unusual noise, smoke, relay alarms) immediately to the O&M Lead
• Complete daily/shift electrical logs and support commissioning/testing activities as needed
• Support EHS compliance — arc flash PPE, LOTO, and safe electrical work practices
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in MV electrical systems, switchgear, and generator paralleling operations (industrial/power generation preferred)
• Working knowledge of protective relays, breakers, and MV switchgear operations
• Experience with generator control/synchronization panels (e.g., Woodward EasyGen) preferred
• Ability to read single-line diagrams and electrical schematics
• Strong troubleshooting and electrical safety awareness (NFPA 70E / arc flash awareness)
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights/weekends
• OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E training preferred; journeyman electrician license a plus
