Job summary

Nova Measuring Instruments is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Lead in Fremont, CA, to guide manufacturing processes for semiconductor metrology capital equipment. You will lead design for manufacturability, manage NPI activities, and drive CIP across products, collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams.

The role focuses on real-time support, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional decision making in a fast-paced, innovative environment within the Material Metrology

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years Manufacturing Engineering experience in semiconductor metrology or with ion/electron beam systems and/or high vacuum equipment used in semiconductor capital equipment systems.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for supply chain and technical issues regarding electronics assemblies.
  • Experience with Altium (or similar).
  • Experience with S2/S8, CE EMC, CE Machinery, Customer Compliance and QMS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time technical support to the manufacturing group, resolving assembly, integration and final test issues.
  • Provide leadership in decision making regarding business and technical decisions internally and externally.
  • Work with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers to qualify suppliers to perform the functions for Nova.
  • Interact with suppliers to review mfg scope, qualify testing, and review results to drive continuous improvement.
  • Design, analyze, review electrical engineering designs – including PCBA wrt digital and analog design aspects.
  • Develop fixturing and process’ for testing electronics – High Voltage system control modules.
  • Define design and standards for power distribution and cabling consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement incremental design improvements to products. Perform appropriate test and validation and production implementation.
  • Ensure engineering design and specifications are in place for all components, subassemblies, systems, products and options. Implement IQC process and fixtures as required.
  • Coordinate NPI and project management of related activities – working in cross-functional teams with R&D/Engineering/Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Quality.
  • Drive changes to achieve goals for Quality, Cost and Cycle-Time improvements.

Job description

The Operations and Manufacturing team at Nova is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Lead with Electrical Engineering experience to work with our Production personnel, Engineers and Scientists to produce our industry leading metrology equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer Lead is responsible for the company’s manufacturing processes for semiconductor metrology capital equipment. Responsible for the design of the company’s products as related to manufacturability and performance to specifications, as well as product manufacturing process and fixturing. Will be responsible for documentation availability and accuracy. This position should perform as a leader within the Manufacturing Engineering and Electrical teams. This position will be involved in NPI for new products and modules and responsible for CIP of existing products.

Pay Range: $ 145,000 - $170,000 Annually (DOE)

Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time technical support to the manufacturing group, resolving assembly, integration and final test issues. Perform root-cause analysis and implement changes via ECO process.
  • Provide leadership in decision making regarding business and technical decisions internally and externally. Understand the full supply chain for Nova products.
  • Work with suppliers and subcontract manufacturers to qualify suppliers to perform the functions for Nova. Provide audit reports.
  • Interact with suppliers to review mfg scope, qualify testing, and review results to drive continuous improvement.
  • Design, analyze, review electrical engineering designs – including PCBA wrt digital and analog design aspects.
  • Develop fixturing and process’ for testing electronics – High Voltage system control modules. Work with engineering team to implement manufacturability design changes.
  • Define design and standards for power distribution and cabling consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement incremental design improvements to products. Perform appropriate test and validation and production implementation.
  • Ensure engineering design and specifications are in place for all components, subassemblies, systems, products and options. Implement IQC process and fixtures as required.
  • Implement manufacturing WI and tooling needed to meet customer specifications and company targets. Implement technical specifications for critical manufacturing steps.
  • Own Documentation Quality- BOM accuracy, Drawings, WI. Drive ECR/ECO implementation and process improvements.
  • Coordinate NPI and project management of related activities – working in cross-functional teams with R&D/Engineering/Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Quality. Follow PLC guidelines and participate in Gate Review process.
  • Drive changes to achieve goals for Quality, Cost and Cycle-Time improvements.
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years Manufacturing Engineering experience in either semiconductor metrology or with ion/electron beam systems and/or high vacuum equipment used in semiconductor capital equipment systems.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for supply chain and technical issues regarding electronics assemblies.
  • Experience with Altium (or similar)
  • Experience with S2/S8, CE EMC, CE Machinery, Customer Compliance and QMS systems.
  • Must possess strong troubleshooting skills in Electrical and Mechanical systems.
  • Exhibit proficient use computers, Windows operating systems, lab electronic measurement equipment; requires knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) to perform job function and working knowledge Agile software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
