Nova Measuring Instruments is seeking a System Engineer to collaborate with Design Engineers, Product Managers and Researchers on developing, integrating and characterizing novel metrology solutions across multiple product lines. You will work within a skilled team in a fast‑growing semiconductor environment, contributing to product life cycle, field testing and continuous learning opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Physics required.
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor or other large capital equipment markets.
  • Experience with electron‑optics, electron columns, XPS, or SIMS.
  • Ability to develop, run and maintain experimental systems, prototype and beta systems.
  • Design and incorporate metrology equipment (cameras, detectors, etc.) and vacuum hardware.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to balance independent work with teamwork and accountability.

Responsabilités

  • Play a key role through the Product Life Cycle from conception to field testing.
  • Apply broad experience with high vacuum systems for electron beam and X‑ray technologies.
  • Maintain, operate and run experiments on current and next‑gen XPS/XRF tools with minimal supervision.
  • Use complex vacuum systems and metrology equipment (stages, gauges, cameras, lasers, detectors, spectrometers, electron beam analysis).
  • Integrate and test solutions for existing and next‑gen products, and validate concepts.
  • Participate in design and testing of components and subsystems to ensure requirements are met.
  • Own integration and characterization of new components or subsystems and train Manufacturing, Service and Applications.

Nova Engineering Team is looking for a System Engineer to work with Design Engineers, Product Managers and Researchers to participate in the ongoing development, integration and characterization of a novel metrology solutions across several product lines. This person will be part of a highly skilled and efficient team of System Engineers with significant combined experience in instrumentation for Semiconductor production environment. This position provides an opportunity to have a large impact in a rapidly growing division.

Pay Range: $130,000- $170,000 Annually (DOE)

Responsibilities
  • System Engineer play a key role throughout the entire Product Life Cycle from the inception and validation of new ideas to final product release and field testing
  • Our ideal candidate would be a highly motivated individual with broad experience in applied high vacuum systems for electron beam and x-rays related technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will maintain, operate, and run experiments on the current and next generation XPS/XRF tools with minimum supervision.
  • The candidate must have high proficiency in hands‑on work (in a cleanroom environment) and demonstrate the ability to use complex vacuum systems with high-end metrology equipment such as stages, gauges, cameras, lasers, detectors, spectrometers, electron beam analysis equipment, etc.
  • Integrate and test solutions for existing and next generation products, validate the concepts of the proposed solutions and initiate the development and implementation of these solutions
  • Participates in the Design and Testing phase of the component (sub‑system), ensures that the design complies with the requirements
  • Own the integration of the new component or sub‑system into the product and characterizes its behavior at full product performance level
  • Develop procedures for and trains Manufacturing, Service and Applications in all aspects of the new component or sub‑system as it relates to the complete system - assembly

Requirements
  • BS, or MS in Physics
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor or other large capital equipment markets
  • Technical knowledge in systems utilizing electron-optics, electron columns, XPS, or SIMS
  • Ability to develop, run and maintain experimental systems, prototype, and beta systems
  • Design and incorporate metrology equipment (cameras, detectors, etc..) and vacuum hardware
  • Resolve technical problems in development, and maintenance of research Hardware/Equipment
  • Must be able to balance independent work, accountability and ownership of complex problems with teamwork, collaboration and sense of joint purpose.
  • Drive for high quality work product with focus on the Customer’s problem at hand and understanding of timeline, budget and other practical constraints
  • Educated and experienced in general scientific thinking and approach to problem solving. He / She has consistent, logical and analytical approach to solving problems with good reasoning skills.
  • Listens as if she / he were wrong and argues as if she / he were right
  • Can design and execute high-precision measurements and process the data accordingly
  • System integration and characterization skills combining critical thinking and scientific intuition
  • Conceptual understanding of particle detection and signal amplification (100 kHz range)
  • Working knowledge of high voltage components in the 5kV range. Familiar with basic high-voltage best practices.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Hands on experience working with hardware components, basic electronics modules and diagnostics instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of clean vacuum systems (1e-7 torr) and vacuum-related design is a plus.
