Job summary

Nova (NASDAQ: NVMI) seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team advancing metrology systems from concept to high-volume production. You will translate innovative ideas into robust mechanical designs and rapidly iterate prototypes, collaborating with electrical, optical, firmware, and software engineers.

The role emphasizes ownership of subsystems, design for manufacturability, and close interaction with customers to deliver high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–3+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment or metrology hardware.
• Experience with precision lens and camera mounting, high vacuum design, and X-ray/E-beam optics.

Responsibilities

• Own subsystems from concept to release and manufacture, including concept development, detail design, drawings and BOMs, tolerance analysis and procurement.
• Define specifications and create technical design documents.
• Perform risk analyses via experiments, FEA or equivalent methods and mitigate.
• Lead design reviews at all phases and manage key suppliers.
• Prepare test plans, build prototypes and conduct validation tests.

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team focused on advancing product development and R&D projects. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing next-generation metrology systems by translating innovative concepts into mechanical designs and rapidly iterating prototypes. This position requires collaboration across various technical fields, including electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, and software. We are looking for individuals who thrive in team environments, can brainstorm big ideas, embrace new technologies, and have the drive to take a concept from prototype to high-volume consumer product solutions.

Pay Range: $110,000- $130,000 Annually (DOE)

Role Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of key subsystems designs from concept to release too manufacturing including developing concepts, detail design, detail drawings & BOM’s, tolerance analysis & procurement
• Understand key requirements, create specification and other technical design documents
• Perform risk analysis and mitigate where necessary by experiment, FEA analysis or other relevant method
• Prepare and conduct reviews at all phases of design
• Procurement and management of key suppliers
• Prepare test plans, build prototypes and conduct or supervise tests to validate designs

Requirements:

• Precision lens & camera mounting
• High vacuum design
• X-ray and or E beam optics
• Good modelling, detail drawing practices and an understanding of GD&T
• SolidWorks & SolidWorks PDM

Education / Experience

• Mechanical Engineer with at least a BS degree and 1-3 years or more of experience in Semiconductor equipment related field
