Job description

This individual is responsible for the overall Dothan Electrical business results for their assigned team(s) and for the safety and supervision of Electrical technicians who accomplish the repair, retrofit, installation or replacement of electrical equipment. Additionally, this role is responsible for training and developing electrical field technicians as well as the financial performance of the business.

Compensation:
Salary: Starting at $80K/yr. + quarterly incentive package
Job Responsibilities
  • Implements and evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to electrical technicians following company safety policies
  • Accountable for the profit and loss of the work team
  • Responsible for training and developing electrical field technicians
  • Supports electrical field technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance
  • Supervises jobs by reviewing technicians’ work and maintaining records
  • Provides oversight in scheduling, organizing, and dispatching electrical field technicians
  • Represents the company by serving as a direct customer contact
  • Serves customers by answering questions, responding to special requests, and helping them make key buying decisions
  • Prepares for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work as necessary
  • Consolidates reference information by collecting, organizing, and assembling data for reports, presentations, and/or special projects
  • Identifies, analyzes, and quotes equipment installation, retrofits and repairs at customers’ locations
  • Uses a variety of tools and reads schematics for engineering specifications
  • Monitor and control manpower, tools and vehicles to ensure efficient and effective use of all departmental resources
  • Reviews service profitability report on a monthly basis to identify services performing below targeted gross margins and identify problems or areas for improvement to initiate appropriate steps for implementation
  • Responsible for profitable growth of the business
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or as necessary by customer
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • All facets of responsibility for electrical teams, (i.e. hiring, training, directing, mentoring)
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work of staff
  • Conducts performance reviews, and rewards and disciplines employees as necessary
  • Addresses internal/external complaints and resolves problems
Qualifications
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required of an Electrical Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of various electrical products, systems, electronics, and building controls
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred), or Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in electrical.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends (as needed)

Physical Demands
  • The employee must occasionally climb ladders to access rooftop equipment for the purpose of developing quotations
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Strict adherence to Company safety requirements
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of an Electrical Manager. This position requires frequent visits to job sites, which could require working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms.
