Position Summary

The Electrical-Mechanic Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and/or mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. This role ensures that all electrical and mechanical components are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant codes and standards. The position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance And Repair

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and execute repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Replace or repair defective components such as motors, sensors, switches, circuit boards, welding, or fabrication.
  • Repair machinery and facilities.

Installation

  • Install new electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures according to job specifications and local codes.
  • Assist in the layout and installation of electrical wiring, conduit, welding, and equipment.
  • Install and test new equipment.

Troubleshooting

  • Use electrical testing equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to identify faults and ensure proper installations.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with electrical systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities (work orders), including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Follow safety policies/procedures including wearing necessary PPE.
  • Follow attendance policy and other policies.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and production staff to ensure seamless operation of equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices and less experienced technicians.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for improving equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Physical And Environmental Conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures, including below 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands for simple firm grasping and writing.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying 5 pounds to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally using cutting utensils (i.e., knives, peelers, etc.).
  • Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers, etc.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures of 45 degrees or less.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, etc.
  • Works overtime as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and/or mechanical, industrial controls, and automation.
  • Proficient in using electrical testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and/or mechanical schematics and technical manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a fresh food or production environment is preferred.
  • Basic mathematical abilities.
  • Possess verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the English language.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position with potential for overtime and on-call responsibilities.
  • May require working weekends and holidays depending on production needs.
