Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Location: Benton Harbor, MI

Type: Full-Time | Onsite | Non-Exempt

JOB PURPOSE

The Maintenance Technician’s main responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting the maintenance supervisor with fabrication/installation and preventative maintenance of equipment throughout the facilities. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fabrication of needed part or materials
2. Repair machinery and facilities
3. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
4. Install and test new equipment
5. Responsible for keeping the production machinery running with minimum downtime
6. Responsible for maintaining repairs to the facilities
7. Complete paperwork in a timely and legible manner
8. Follow safety policies/procedures including wearing necessary PPE
9. Follow attendance policy and other policies

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

1. Required to stand, sit, walk for long periods of time
2. Frequent use of hands for simple firm, grasping and writing
3. Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing
4. Occasional lifting, carrying 5 pounds to 50 pounds
5. Occasionally using cutting utensils (I.E Knives, peeler, etc.)
6. Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers etc.
7. Exposure to varying temperatures of 45 degrees or less
8. Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, etc.
9. Works overtime as required
10. Other duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Possess verbal and written communication skills
2. Experience in fresh food or production environment
3. 2+ years of maintenance experience
4. High School Diploma or GED preferred
5. Must have own transportation
6. Must have a working knowledge of English language
7. Basic mathematical abilities
8. Ability to interact across departments
