Job summary

TOPS Staffing is seeking several Electrical Maintenance Technicians for a growing client in Pittsburgh. These are direct hire positions with daylight and second shifts; starting pay is $25–$30 per hour, plus 12%–15% shift differential for off-shift work.

You will perform electrical maintenance in a mill/plant environment, with strong PLC knowledge preferred. Responsibilities include wiring, testing, troubleshooting, repairs of industrial equipment, and possibly PLC programming.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience performing electrical maintenance in a production environment (steel mill or foundry preferred).
• Technical schooling degree in electrical maintenance or related field.
• Capable of testing and troubleshooting Electrical applications.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies equipment or finished product electrical components and systems.
• Test new equipment and troubleshoot operation; make minor adjustments as needed.
• Perform high voltage electrical repairs (controls, relays).
• Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery following specs and diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic, mechanical, or electrical computer-controlled equipment.
• May input or perform PLC programming.
• Participate in safety committees or initiatives.
• Perform preventative maintenance and testing on electrical wiring and components of production equipment and facilities.
• Install electrical panels, relays and switches.
• Read and troubleshoot basic PLC programming.

These opportunities will be a direct hire situation, our client will hire you on directly from your first day (no contract period with TOPS).

Job Details

• Direct hire position
• Daylight and second shift positions available
• Starting pay rate: $25 and $30 per hour depending on experience
• 12% to 15% shift differential for working off shifts
• In this position you will perform electrical maintenance work in a mill or plant type environment.
• Strong PLC knowledge and experience preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies equipment or finished product electronic components, parts, switch panels, electronic equipment and systems.
• May test new equipment, troubleshoot operation, and make minor adjustments to equipment.
• Performs high voltage electrical repairs (e.g., controls, relays).
• Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electronic, mechanical, or electrical computer-controlled equipment.
• May input or perform PLC programming.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• Performs advanced repairs, troubleshoots electrical problems, performs preventative maintenance and testing on electrical wiring and components of production equipment and facilities infrastructure.
• Installs electrical panels, relays and switches.
• Reads and troubleshoots basic PLC programming.

Education and Experience

• 3 years of experience performing electrical maintenance work in a production environment – Steel mill or foundry environment would be preferred.
• Technical schooling degree in electrical maintenance or related field.
• Capable of testing and trouble shooting Electrical applications.
