Electrical Maintenance Technician

Full Time Hourly Technical Lexington, KY, US

Performs general facility maintenance, repair, and upkeep throughout Keeneland's grounds and facilities, with an emphasis on basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting. This position is a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance role responsible for maintaining lighting, fixtures, equipment, buildings, and other facility components.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance and repairs within the employee's training, experience, and applicable requirements. Work requiring a licensed electrician or other specialized trade professional will be referred to the appropriate qualified personnel or contractor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs routine electrical maintenance and basic troubleshooting throughout Keeneland's barns, grandstands, sales pavilions, offices, dormitories, outbuildings, and temporary structures.
  • Installs, replaces, and maintains light bulbs, light fixtures, switches, outlets, extension cords, and other basic electrical components as permitted by applicable requirements and within the employee's training and ability.
  • Inspects grounds and facility lighting and identifies lighting issues requiring repair or replacement.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to electric heaters and other facility equipment.
  • Assists with maintaining and troubleshooting low-voltage systems, data cabling, and related equipment.
  • Performs general handyman and building maintenance.
  • Assists with the setup, installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary equipment, lighting, signage, and structures for race meets, sales, special events, and other activities.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Performs routine inspections of buildings, grounds, lighting, and equipment and reports maintenance concerns or safety hazards.
  • Responds to maintenance requests and prioritizes work based on operational needs.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, work areas, and maintenance supplies in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Coordinates with other Facilities and Maintenance personnel and outside contractors when repairs require specialized skills, equipment, or licensing.
  • Follows all applicable safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions or equipment.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, race days, sales days and special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One to two years of experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, handyman work, building maintenance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Driver's license and a Kentucky Horse Racing Gaming License.
