Job summary

Canam Steel Corporation is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician III with electrical experience in South Plainfield, NJ. The role supports production operations through preventive electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and facility systems.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with shift schedules that include 1st shift and overtime as needed; comprehensive benefits are offered along with opportunities for bonuses and job growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school preferred.
• At least 3 years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
• Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Able to perform electrical troubleshooting and have knowledge of electrical controls.
• Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulics, electrical panels and electric motors.
• Knowledge of lock out / tag out and PPE.
• Experience operating, troubleshooting and repairing various types of production machinery.
• Licensed electrician preferred.
• Welding/fabrication experience preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and repair on electrical/electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic mechanical systems.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair equipment; assist with service and repair of more complex equipment.
• Repair all electrical wiring, electronics and equipment (24 to 480 Volts).
• Comply with applicable OSHA and Safety program regulations.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC programs.
• Provide scheduled and emergency repairs to production equipment during shifts.
• Install and maintain production/facility equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
