Job summary

Dakota State University in Madison, SD seeks a full-time Building Maintenance Specialist – Electrical. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities Trade and performs electrical maintenance across campus, including wiring, fixture repair, and device installation.

Requirements include a Journeyman electrical license (or within 6 months), ability to follow instructions, operate equipment, and lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Journeyman electrical license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to operate required equipment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs regularly.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Comfortable working from heights or lifts and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Repairing or replacing electrical fixtures.
• Replacing fuses, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and ballast.
• Replacing belts, motors, and bearings on appliances and equipment.
• Oversee warranty issues from general construction projects.
• Running conduit and pulling wire.
• Installing new devices including panels, breakers, conduit, boxes, switches, receptacles, wires, lights, fans.
• Assisting other trades on repair and construction projects.
• Installing or repairing underground wiring.
• Maintenance and testing on emergency lights, exhaust fans, etc.
