South Dakota State University is seeking a skilled Carpenter – Senior Building Maintenance Worker to join our Facilities and Services team in Brookings, SD. This role focuses on carpentry and building maintenance across campus facilities.

Responsibilities include installing and remodeling building components, reading drawings, and ensuring safe operation of power and hand tools. Benefits are provided through SDState and ongoing professional development opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of carpentry specialties including framing, sheetrock, flooring, trim, windows and roofing.
• Ability to read construction drawings and interpret technical information.
• Basic mathematics including geometry and fractions.

Responsibilities

• Install windows, doors, framing, siding, trim, flooring, roofing, ceilings and partitions.
• Repair or replace stair treads, handrails, ceilings, sheetrock, siding and roofing.
• Remodel spaces including demolition and interior wall construction.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and technical information.
