Job summary

State of Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services seeks a Correctional Maintenance Officer I Electrical for Maryland facilities. The role covers installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in a correctional environment with supervision and shift rotation.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of electrical experience. Military experience may substitute; a Maryland driver's license is required for some positions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or high school equivalency accepted by MD authorities.
• Two years of electrical experience.
• Two years military service in correctional institutional specialty codes may substitute for the required experience.
• Some positions require a Maryland driver's license to operate vehicles for inmate or supply transport.

Responsibilities

• Supervise incarcerated individuals and enforce safety rules and regulations.
• Assign installation, maintenance or repair tasks to incarcerated workers.
• Train and instruct inmates on methods and use of tools and equipment.
• Inspect work for adherence to quality standards and accuracy.
