Job summary

Bull Moose Tube Company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to service and maintain electrical and mechanical systems across our steel pipe and tube production facilities. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair machinery including mills, slitter, tool room equipment, PLCs, motor controls, sensors, and electro/mechanical systems while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical skills with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, sensors, limit switches, and electro/mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Read micrometers, calipers, gauges and tape measures.
  • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Read electrical blueprints.
  • Operate forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Follow safety, quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Support plant functions and continuous improvements.

Position Summary

Understands and reinforces the Company vision of being the best producer of steel pipe and tube in North America. Performs assigned tasks in a manner reflecting and achieving the Vision consistent with the Company's Core Values: Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Growth and Results. Responsible for electrical/mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds. Utilize and operate equipment, material, and tools to inspect, diagnose and repair machinery, including mills, slitter, tool room equipment, PLC's, motor controls, sensors, limit switches and electro/mechanical systems, 3-phase 480vt equipment, and other facility needs as they arise. Responsible for support capacity of all plant functions, maintaining equipment in an operable, safe manner. Must comply with all safety, quality, customer focus, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping standards.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and apply micrometer, caliper, gages, and tape measure
  • Ability to perform required maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints
  • Ability to drive a forklift and overhead cranes
  • Demonstrate mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge and aptitude
  • Adhere to the Universal Safety Rules set forth by Bull Moose Tube
  • Complete knowledge of Company quality requirements and procedures
  • Complete knowledge of Company safety requirements and procedures
  • Able to work in an environment without climate control.
  • Able to work overtime and/or various shifts
  • Follow all applicable procedures and instructions including but not limited to preventative and routine maintenance, troubleshooting, process improvements, reporting of time and materials consumed as well as actively support business practices set forth by BMT, employees, contractors and other resources
  • Work with work groups and teams to support the sustainability and continuous improvements of BMT and stakeholders.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and as reasonably expected of the position.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 3-5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to read shop signs and instructions and collaborate with team members.
  • Basic mechanical skills including demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in working on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with PLC's, motor controls, sensors, limit switches and electro/mechanical systems, and 3-phase 480vt equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot the same.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time as well as walk, twist, bend, kneel, see, talk, hear
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently and on occasion lift or move 100 pounds.
