Job summary

University at Buffalo is seeking a Maintenance Assistant Electrical to support the electrical trades across campus. You will handle routine maintenance, install conduit and wiring per NEC, and assist with project work while ensuring safe tool use and strong customer service.

The role requires communication across campus, the ability to read diagrams/blueprints, and willingness to respond to after-hours calls in a demanding environment. This is a full-time university facility position.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience in maintenance electrical or electrical work.
• Completion of a two-year technical school course or NYS CSEA-P program.
• Valid New York State driver's license.
• Ability to read diagrams, blueprints.
• Willingness to respond to after-hours calls.

Responsibilities

• Properly use electrical trade tools and equipment safely.
• Install conduit, panels and wire to NEC specs.
• Maintain light fixtures, outlets and switches.
• Collaborate with Trades Specialists and others on projects.
• Assist with installation, repair and construction tasks in electrical trades.
• Assist journey-level trades to diagnose and repair systems.
• Lead a team of Maintenance Helpers or Laborers as needed.
• Perform routine tasks of the electrical trade.
