Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Ohio seeks a multidisciplinary engineer/maintenance professional to strengthen safety practices while optimizing production. You will apply written safety procedures, provide engineering solutions, and support PLC programming and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting on blow molding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and take action to maintain a safe work environment per established standards and guidelines.
• Provide plant engineering support as required; PLC programming/design and electrical & mechanical troubleshooting.
• Develop and implement cost saving measures to current production methods/machines.
• Provide detailed electrical/mechanical drawings as needed; assist in plant layouts and improvements.
• Establish and maintain project schedules from inception to commissioning and operations; coordinate technical activities.
• Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, engineering practices, and Silgan Plastics standards.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines, project participants, and management.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job description

Evaluates, and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines. Know and apply written safety procedures. Provide engineering, PPE. or training solutions to high exposure areas based on near missed and accident reports. Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts. Complete projects/assignments safely and efficiently.

Investigates, evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain and improve production efficiencies within the established standards or guidelines. Provide plant engineering support as required; PLC programming/program design, and electrical & mechanical troubleshooting. Support the design, improvement and fabrication of internally developed and purchased blow molding and auxiliary equipment.

Develop and implement cost saving measures to current production methods/machines.

Provide detailed electrical/mechanical drawings as needed. Assist in development of plant layouts and improvements. Effectively use verbal and written communications.

Establishes and maintains project schedules from inception, to commissioning, to operations. Coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates assigned engineering/maintenance work.

Monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Silgan Plastics standards.

Ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines, project participants, and management.

All other duties as assigned.
