City of Glendale (CA) is hiring for an Open & Promotional Examination with a six-month probationary period in the Electrical Line Mechanic track. The role focuses on constructing, maintaining, and repairing transmission and distribution systems, including overhead and underground work.
Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent and completed an Electrical Line Mechanic Apprenticeship plus a 600-hour LAUSD electrician trainee program (or equivalent) with climbing
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formalized Electrical Line Mechanic Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent level of approved apprenticeship training is required.
Completion of the 600-hour Electrical Technician/Electrical Distribution Mechanic Trainee program offered by the Los Angeles Unified School District or an equivalent recognized electrical line mechanic training school, which includes climbing certification is required.
Valid Class C California driver's license.
A valid California Class "A" Driver's License is required prior to the completion of the probationary period.City will provide necessary training to obtain Class "A" Driver's Licenses during probationary period.
Employees in these classifications, who are required by applicable laws and regulations to have respiratory protection, shall comply with the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) requirements on Practices for Respiratory Protection.
Any City of Glendale employee who meets the minimum qualifications for this position, has completed probation or six months of City employment, and is occupying a permanent full-time classification on file in the Human Resources Department. Hourly City employees may be considered, provided that they furnish proof of continuous employment immediately preceding the final filing date, which would equal a minimum of six months of full-time service or 1040 part-time hours. (Civil Service Rule VIII 4-E).

WRITTEN EXAM: (PASS/FAIL) To evaluate the candidate's skills, knowledge and ability to be successful in this position. Exam will be relevant to the duties of this position. Approximately the 12 highest scoring candidates who achieve a minimum passing score of 70.00% on the written exam will be invited to the further stages of the examination process.
ORAL INTERVIEW: (Weight of 100%) To evaluate the applicant's experience, education, and personal fitness for the position.
