Pieper Houston Electric is seeking Electrical Service Technicians to join our team. Journeyman Service Technicians are responsible for installing and completing high-quality electrical field work and taking measures to increase the company’s effectiveness and efficiency. Job Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair or replace malfunctioning electrical apparatus and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, motors, generators, fixtures, and lighting controls.
- Document actions, testing results, observations, diagnoses, and steps taken to resolve issues for each job.
- Test electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduits.
- Check circuit connections for compatibility and safety.
- Estimate time and materials needed for service tasks, considering needs and manpower.
- Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Understand and demonstrate basic principles of electricity and electronics.
- Maintain a safe work environment following all company and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintain equipment in good condition and report issues to supervisors.
- Engage with customers to inform them of issues, solutions, and outcomes; recommend products and services to optimize system performance.
- Respect clients and work towards developing a partnership environment.
Requirements:
- 3+ years in commercial electrical on-demand/service, maintenance, or troubleshooting and field repair of electrical systems.
- Understanding of the Electrical Code and NFPA 70-E.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Journeyman Electrician license required.
- Valid state electrical journeyman and/or master license.
- Pass background check, drug screen, and DMV check.
- Availability for on-call and overtime work as needed, including rotating schedules.
- Basic hand tools for general repair work.
- Familiarity with smartphones and tablets.
- Efficient use of time and materials while ensuring quality installations.
- Operate a company vehicle responsibly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Proficient in using test meters and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
Environmental / Working Conditions:
- Frequent local travel, up to 100% of the time.
- Work from electronic devices and computers.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Perform electrical tasks at various heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and reach overhead.
- Constant movement on feet.
- Read and follow written instructions, maps, and manuals.
- Follow verbal instructions.
