Job summary

George McKenna Electrical Contractors (GME) is seeking an experienced Electrical Journeyman to join our team in Coppell, TX. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial and residential settings, reading blueprints and schematics, and ensuring work meets NEC and local codes.

This role requires leadership to mentor apprentices, strong problem-solving and communication, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with project managers.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local regulations).
• 5–10 years of electrical experience in commercial, multi-family, or residential construction.
• Strong knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and in varying weather conditions.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• Experience supervising apprentices or small crews.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
• Install conduit, wiring, panels, switchgear, lighting, and electrical devices.
• Test electrical systems and identify issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Ensure all work complies with the NEC and local building codes.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to maintain project schedules.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials used.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians.
• Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
