Job summary

Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials is seeking an Electrical Journeyman to support mining-related manufacturing operations. You will install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment, with emphasis on PLCs, HMIs, and motor controls.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and completion of an electrical apprenticeship or trade qualification.
  • Current MSHA Qualified Electrician status and a valid state journeyman license.
  • 5+ years in industrial electrical maintenance focusing on motor controls and PLCs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens).

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and troubleshoot PLC hardware and logic.
  • Maintain and modify HMIs and associated control software.
  • Service and repair VFDs, soft starters, and motor control panels.
  • Troubleshoot motor circuits, relays, and sensors to optimize equipment performance.
  • Maintain high/low voltage distribution systems including transformers.
  • Execute preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures per NFPA 70E and MSHA regulations.

We are looking for an Electrical Journeyman to join our team. As an Electrical Journeymanwith Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials you will support manufacturing operations by installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment.

About the Role
Responsibilities:
  • Automation & PLC Systems:
    • Install, program, and troubleshoot PLC hardware and logic.
    • Diagnose faults in PLC-controlled equipment using diagnostic software and laptop interfaces.
    • Maintain and modify Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and associated control software.
  • Motor & Drive Controls:
    • Service and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, and precision motor control panels.
    • Troubleshoot complex motor circuits, relays, and sensors to optimize equipment performance.
    • Perform diagnostic tests on AC/DC motors and configure protective devices.
  • Mining Infrastructure & Maintenance:
    • Maintain high-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers.
    • Service critical mining machinery like conveyor systems, pumps, ventilation fans, and underground hoists.
    • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
    • Expertly apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for hazardous equipment.
About You
We Require:
  • Education: High school diploma/GED; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or trade qualification.
  • Certification: Current MSHA Qualified Electrician status and a valid state journeyman license.
  • Experience: 5+ years in industrial electrical maintenance, specifically with motor controls and PLCs (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, productivity 3,000).
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme temperatures typical of mining sites.
  • Employee-Provided Tools: Technicians are required to provide their own basic hand tools, including but not limited to:
    • Insulated screwdriver set and nut drivers.
    • Side cutters, needle-nose pliers, and wire strippers.
    • Standard and metric wrench/socket sets.
    • Digital Multimeter (Category III/IV rated).
    • Hammer, tape measure, and flashlight.
