Buro Happold Limited is seeking an Electrical Intern to join our team and contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

You will collaborate with engineers, use Revit and other tools, and gain hands-on experience on projects that shape communities and address climate change. Hybrid work and learning opportunities are available.

Compensation ranges hourly between $21 and $31, depending on education and location.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
• Coursework in electrical power systems or building systems design.
• Interest in electrical engineering with power emphasis.
• Experience with alternative energy or new construction technologies preferred.
• Familiarity with BIM software (Revit, AutoCAD).
• Internship experience at an engineering-related firm is a plus.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to develop energy-efficient building designs.
• Use Revit to prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports.
• Analyze load to determine system sizing and assign circuits for power/lighting.
• Perform electrical building services design and calculations with Design Master and SKM.
• Adopt new technologies to improve performance and sustainability.

Your key duties

• As an Electrical Intern, you will collaborate with other engineers to develop creative, energy-efficient buildings that provide aesthetics to their physical surroundings and utility to their occupants.
• Using Revit, prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports
• Analyze load to determine system sizing, and assign circuitry for power and lighting devices
• Undertake electrical engineering building services design and calculations (using software and knowledge to verify robust calculations such as Design Master and SKM)
• Embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability

Your skills and experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and/or building systems design
• Interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline
• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry preferred
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit, AutoCAD
• Internship experience at engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
