Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an Electrical Intern for Summer 2027 in New York. You will work with engineers to develop energy‑efficient buildings and contribute to projects that support climate action and community impact.

Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, with coursework in power systems and BIM software. The role offers hands-on learning, collaboration, and opportunities across a global network.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and building systems design.
• Interest in electrical engineering with emphasis on power.
• Familiar with BIM software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
• Internship experience in engineering related firm preferred.
• Strong communication of thoughts and technical ideas; eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Using Revit, prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports.
• Analyze load to determine system sizing and assign circuitry for power and lighting devices.
• Undertake electrical engineering building services design and calculations (using Design Master and SKM).
• Embrace latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability.

As an Electrical Intern, you will collaborate with other engineers to develop creative, energy‑efficient buildings that provide aesthetics to their physical surroundings and utility to their occupants. • Using Revit, prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports
• Analyze load todeterminesystem sizing, and assign circuitry for power and lighting devices
• Undertake electrical engineering building services design and calculations (using software and knowledge to verify robust calculations such as Design Master and SKM)
• Embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability

Your skills and experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and/or building systems design
• Interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline
• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry preferred
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit, AutoCAD
• Internship experience at engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learnand work as part of a multidisciplinary team
